Christmas Fun

Cristie

I have wanted to learn how to make more crochet items with cables on them ever since I have started crocheting.  I decided an Kindle Cozy would be the perfect item to design with a cable.  My sister in law asked me to make a cozy for my niece Cristie and this is what I came up with.  I have to say I love how it turned out.

Randy and Saundra gave us a Kindle for Christmas. (I know we are spoiled).  Of course I have already crochet a nice cozy to keep it safe and warm.

CHRISTmas

I LOVE CHRISTmas.  This time of year is so wonderful.  I love spending time with my family and freinds.  I love making people happy giving them gifts and watching them open them with a smile on their faces.  I love seeing my kids excitement Christmas morning when they see that Santa came in the night, but mostly I love this time of year because my heart is so open and full of gratitude for all that I have in my life.  I am so blessed because of the birth of the Saviour on that Sacred, humble night.  I am such a boob I can't even listen to Christmas carols about the Savior without weeping hysterically.  Especially O Holy Night. It is my favorite ever and I can't help but picture myself there as I listen to the lyrics.  Even though Steve and I are not rich by any means, and will never have a big beautiful house or fancy cars I have so much to be thankful for.  I am so blessed compared to some people in this world.  This time of year really brings out the best in people.  I see so many people who are willing to give to those less fortunate than they are and it makes me want to better myself.  I am so blessed because I have been on the receiving end of those generous people more than once.  This time of year is truly magical.  The birth of our Saviour was the biggest blessing of all!  Merry CHRISTmas!

O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

Confession

Maybe I'm just getting old,
Or maybe I'm just weird but I have
to admit I like Tom Jones.

Temple Square during Christmas.

Last night the family went to Salt Lake to walk around temple square and see the lights.  I haven't gone in about 15 years so I thought it would be a great family night.  Can you believe Steve has lived in Utah his whole life and never been to see the lights at the Salt Lake Temple?  Pretty unbelievable I think.  Anyway, we decided to make a night of it and and go out to dinner and ride Trax up.  I don't know if the kids were more excited to ride trax or see the lights.  We had a lot of fun.  It is always beautiful to walk around temple square but it is especially amazing during Christmas.

Peace and Gratitude

I love CHRISTmas.  I am one of those sappy people who can't get enough Christmas music and I cry like a baby every time I hear O Holy Night.  I love thinking about that lovely gentle sacred evening when our savior was born.  I am so blessed and have so much to be thankful for.  Friday I was able to go to the temple with my good friend Mindy.  I love this girl.  I have never met such a kind caring person in my life.  She makes me want to be better and do better.  It was so nice to go and truly ponder some questions and concerns in my life.  I felt the spirit so strong and I knew that the temple is where we should all be striving to go.  I know that through the Savior and Heavenly Father no matter what burdens we have or trials we have he will give us the strength to accomplish them.  This has been hard for me to believe sometimes because I have felt so inadequate and often wondered how I can accomplish things I know I need to do.  I truly love the gospel!  I am so blessed and grateful for all I  have in my life.  Especially my family.  Not just my wonderful husband and beautiful children but also my parents and siblings.  My heart is so full will love and gratitude for them all right now.  I look forward and pray for the day that I will be able to go to the temple with all of them.
