Crochet Owl Earflap Hats for Boys and Girls!

This is the crochet owl ear flap hats I have made.  I have done the brown and green ones before but the pink one is new.  I am selling these for $16 dollars each.  Those of you who want one that live close can order them and pick them up without the shipping cost or you can also get them from my zibbit store link on my blog or facebook!  They are fun to make and I hope you enjoy them.  They can be made with or without the braids.  And with different colors if you like.

CHRISTmas

The kids could hardly wait for grandma and grandpa to get here so they could run down the stairs and see what Santa had brought them.
                                                              A new bedroom set.
                                                               New Rollerblades!
Carly could hard believe that she got an MP3 player.

Grandpa and Grandma opening a tinfoil wrapped present from Carly.
                                               You'll shoot your eye out!

Christmas was wonderful this year as usual.  It is always jam packed full of family since we live pretty close to most of our relatives.  We are very thankful for this.  This year I was especially worried about getting the kids enough for Christmas but it always works out and by the end of the day I worry that they got way too much.  I love the ages they are now.  I love the excitement they have for getting up early and opening the presents that Santa left.  It makes me sad to think that those days will soon been over.

Brings me to tears!

This is my favorite song of the season.  I love it.  I am so thankful for the Saviour and his birth and atonement.  This song truly helps me picture that glorious night o so long ago when the world was changed forever.  We are so  blessed.

O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O holy night, O night divine!
O night, O holy night, O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

Crochet Headband

I am excited about this headband because I finally made one that I liked. I have tried to make wide headbands in the past and have not been happy with them but I am very pleased with this one and so is Carly. That is the most important thing.

Funniest crochet hat I have made!

Ok this takes the cake for weird and funny crochet things that I have made. My cousin contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I could make him a crochet beard hat. I gave it a go and after two attempts this is what I came up with. The link he showed me on line was amazing! I tried to find the pattern for it but none compare to this one. http://taraduffstuff.blogspot.com/2010/02/newest-style-of-bearded-beanie.html This lady is very talented. This is what I finally came up with. I ended up buying a beanie because I thought it looked much better than a crochet one and sewed my crochet beard on. The scariest thing about it is my picture. I guess its always good for a laugh.

Mopey

Mopey? Yes that is how I am feeling tonight. It doesn't help that it is 12:45 at night and I am super tired. And yes people have a lot more to worry about than I do,but I am feeling a little whiny today. First of all I was looking in the mirror the other day and say something that look like a gray hair! What? On closer examination I realized it was a gray hair! And I actually found about then of them. I am so not ready to have gray hair. The being over 30 thing has never bothered me but this gray hair thing sure has.
I am so looking forward to Christmas break. I have never wanted a vacation so badly in my life. Needing money for Christmas this year I started making crochet stuff and selling them to people. It has worked way better than I had ever imagined. So far I think I have sold and made 23 hats, 1 scarf, 1 baby blanket, and one baby in a blanket! And I still have four more hats to make that have been ordered. This plus working 30 hours a week is killing me. The other night I was redoing a hat that wasn't turning out right when I started crying and asking myself what the heck I was doing trying to crochet all these stupid hats. When I figure out the money I made compared to the time I am barely making minimum wage. Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful to all the people who have ordered things from me. I have been able to earn enough money to buy us a meager Christmas this year but I am just tired. I am ready for things to slow down a bit. Plus I think I need just to raise my prices. I always feel badly doing that but I need to get over it because I know my prices are a lot cheaper than anyone else. I guess I am just frustrated with the whole financial, work thing right now. O well I guess I will try to go to sleep now and maybe I will feel better tomorrow.

Carlys birthday celebrations!

This was a totally fun birthday for Carly this year. First of all she was turning 10 so now she is actually in the double digits. Very exciting when you are a kid. Second of all she had a recital that night. She did amazing. She had a couple of minor mistakes but I loved how she just shrugged them off like they were no big deal. She is quite the young lady. I am glad that she doesn't let things like that devastate her. Her voice teacher is so amazing. Before the first performer at the recital she called Carly on stage and had everyone sing Happy Birthday to her. She gave her a present and put a little princess crown on her head. Carly was thrilled. After the recital we went out to eat at Abblybees. She got mack and cheese and a free sunday for desert. We then went over to grandpa and grandmas and had cake and icecream and opened presents. She is such a little sweetie and I am so blessed to have her in my life.

Happy Halloween!

The kids had a great Halloween as usual. It was a good day despite the horrible weather. We went over to Dean house for Joshuas b-day party. The kids always enjoying spending time with cousins. After that we came home to go trick-or-treating. The weather was horrible but we got on the freeway just in time to see the most amazing double rainbow ever. Too bad I didn't have my camera with me. I loved it. Steve took the kids out this year. We try to rotate. I think they both looked great in their costumes. Carlys was especially good.

Carving Pumpkins

Well I guess it is that time again. Not my favorite thing to do, but I love to watch the kids excitement. They are so cute and so fun to watch when they enjoy such little pleasures in life. I can't imagine how sad it will be when they are teenagers and not enjoying those kinds of things any more.

Some pre Halloween fun!

Steve and I had a Halloween party the other night and these are the costumes we came up with. Steve needed a hair cut so he decided to become a punk and sport the mo- hawk for a night. I just dressed up in my usual witch costume. I am not very inventive when it comes to costumes.
The next night we needed to cut Haydens hair so we tried the mo-hawk out on him also. I really like it on him. I think we should have waited until Halloween and let him be a punk too but o well.

Jr Jazz

This is the second year we signed Hayden up to play Jr Jazz. It is so fun to watch him continuously improve in his skill and confidence on the basketball court. He loves going to the games and getting the cheers after he makes a shot. He is such a little cutie pie and I love watching him play basketball.

Caution disgusting boil!

Poor Hayden, he had been complaining about a spot on his back that was hurting him and Steve l0oked at it and thought it was just a pimple. Over the next couple of days Hayden wouldn't even let any one near his back or even look at his pimple,(or so we thought it was). I finally got a good look at it about Monday night and knew right away that this was not an ordinary pimple. It was hugh and swollen and oozing all kinds of disgusting puss. I got him into the doctor on Wednesday morning and it turns out he has some kind of bacterial infection in a sore he must have gotten from who knows where. The doc gave him some antibiotics and said it should be getting better in about a week but Hayden still won't let any one near him. Poor kid. It always seems like he is the one who gets these weird kinds of things.
